Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. Ashford is an actress, singer and dancer. She began her Broadway career in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her performance on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. It will also be available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The team behind Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the control of the production. Ashford's latest part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first big character. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role of Essie. Some other Broadway performances for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
